Power System

Expert information is presented here.

The BST Pad Detector and its frontend electronics are powered by a modular GPIB driven Hewlett Packard power supply. The total consumption of the five supplies is - in the 1998 setup - approx. 25 Watts. Note that all supplies are additionally regulated on the repeaters.

Operated by the Slow Control System five supply voltages are distributed within the PDS modules to power 8 repeaters. The PDS includes a safety switch for the power line with the highest consumption which automatically disconnects this line in case of a cooling flow or temperature alarm or when the supervisory program should be frozen.

The 1997 setup included repeaters of different revisions and therefore was powered by two independent supplies.
