Abstract A new measurement of D* meson production in the regime of diffractive photoproduction at HERA is presented. Cross sections are measured for the process ep -> eXY where the system X contains at least one D* meson and is separated by a large rapidity gap from a low mass proton remnant system Y. The data were collected with the H1 detector in the years 1999 and 2000. The data are compared to various theoretical models. In addition a measurement of the open-charm contributions to the diffractive structure function F2d(3) based on the same dataset and determined by an inclusive lifetime tagging method is presented.
