Abstract A search for the single production of doubly-charged Higgs bosons H^{\pm \pm}_{L,R} is performed in the framework of models where a Higgs triplet is coupled to leptons via Yukawa couplings h^{L,R}_{ii'}. The signal is searched for in decay modes of the Higgs to either electrons, muons or taus, including lepton flavor violating decays, using a sample of e^\pm p events corresponding up to 115.2 pb-1 of data collected with the H1 detector at HERA. We observe no evidence for doubly-charged Higgs production. Assuming that the doubly-charged Higgs only decays to electrons, we set a lower limit of about 139 GeV on the H^{\pm\pm}_{L,R} mass for a coupling value h^{L,R}_{ee} = 0.3, corresponding to an interaction of electromagnetic strength. This is the first search for doubly-charged Higgs production at HERA.
