in the \\Breit Frame\\
H1 Collaboration, DESY}

\abstractbody{
 Deep inelastic positron-proton scattering data, taken in 1996 at the
 H1 detector at HERA, are analysed in the Breit frame of reference.
 The evolution of the peak and width of the current hemisphere
 fragmentation functions for charged particles
 are presented as a function of the photon virtuality, Q, as
 are rapidity distributions for low momentum charged particles.
 A comparison is made with particle production in $e^+e^-$ annihilation
at equivalent centre of mass energies and with MLLA calculations.
 The violations of scale invariance in the fragmentation functions are
 compared with QCD expectation.
