The production of $K^{\pm}$ and $\pi^{\pm}$  mesons is studied in
deep-inelastic positron-proton scattering data taken with the H1 detector 
 at the $ep$ collider HERA. Measurements of the transverse momentum,
pseudorapidity and Feynman-$x$ differential spectra  are
presented in the hadronic centre of mass system and compared with results
from lower energy DIS experiments and QCD  based Monte Carlo models. The
dependence of strangeness suppression on the total hadronic mass, $W$, is
studied.
