Abstract A Very Forward Proton Spectrometer (VFPS) with large acceptance has been installed in the proton beam pipe of the H1 experiment during the summer 2003. The spectrometer, located at 220 m downstream from the interaction point is based on the Roman Pot technique and consists of two stations equipped with scintillating fibres and situated in the cold section of the proton beam line. It allows the measurement of the diffractively scattered proton with $|t| < 0.5$ GeV$^2$ and $5.10^{-3} < x_{pom} < 3.10^{-2}$. The VFPS system will be described and first tests results obtained in the winter 2004 will be presented.
