Introduction

In order to measure the hadronic energy leaking out of the LAC and Spacal (BEMC), eleven of the sixteen limited streamer tube layers of the instrumented iron are equipped in addition with readout electrodes, which covers several tubes. This part of the calorimeter system is named Tail Catcher (TC).

As an example for the increase of the performance of the calorimeter system by this method, the following picture shows a candidate of a charge current event.

Kinematics of this CC-event
Leakage detection xQ2
without TC 0.37 71000 GeV2
with TC 0.46 10100 GeV2

In addition the Tail Catcher covers the backward acceptance hole for hadrons.
